Shopify Updates Deposit Feature

Do you want to simplify your B2B wholesale business? Plus merchants can conduct wholesale sales directly from their online store through the B2B on Shopify feature, which integrates both DTC and B2B types of business in one backend and store. You can set up product catalogs, payment terms and currencies for different customers and associate multiple customers and locations in your company profile in the Shopify back office. You and your customers can also add purchase order numbers to B2B orders and draft orders to quickly operate your wholesale business and improve order management efficiency.

Recently, Shopify updated the deposit collection feature, you can set the payment term and collect deposit from B2B customers at a certain percentage of the total order amount at checkout. You can find the location of the ordering company in the Shopify backend, click “Edit Payment Terms” in the “Customize” card, and check the “Charge a deposit at checkout for orders In the “Customize” tab, click “Edit Payment Terms”, check the “Charge order deposit at checkout” box, and finally enter the percentage of deposit you want to charge. The deposit amount can be configured for each company location, and once set, all orders for that company location will have the deposit amount determined by this percentage. The payment date for the remaining amount of the order will be determined based on the payment terms of the company location. The deposit will only apply to orders that are automatically submitted and are not draft orders.

This update will help you optimize cash flow, reduce payment risk, and help you accurately control inventory and production schedules for smoother and more efficient business operations. The update also significantly expands the B2B company profile management functionality. You can now add up to 10,000 company locations and customers to a single company profile, and manage all your B2B customers in one place. Note that a customer is treated as a separate customer regardless of how many company locations are associated with it, up to a maximum of 50 customers per company location. This update will help you to easily manage customer information and improve order management efficiency.
